ADRIANO VENTURELLI
Born in Formigine in 1953, Adriano Venturelli studied at the Adolfo Venturi Art Institute in Modena, where he obtained the title of Maestro d’Arte and a diploma in applied arts. He attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna from 1974 to 1976. While still a student, Adriano Venturelli’s etchings attracted the attention of Bruno Cernaz, a music critic and art connoisseur, who recommended him to the “Effemeridi” Gallery in Modena, where Venturelli’s first solo exhibition was held in 1975. His presence in this contemporary art gallery, nationally accredited for featuring established artists, aroused the interest of Carlo Federico Teodoro, an art critic and then Director of the Galleria Civica di Modena. Thanks to Teodoro, Adriano Venturelli took part in numerous exhibitions. He participated in the collective exhibition “Aspects of Modena’s Artistic Evolution in the 20th Century” (Modena, 1975; Timișoara, Romania, 1976) and inaugurated his own solo exhibition at the Scuola Grande di S. Teodoro (Venice, 1984). His frequent engagement with the Bolognese artistic cultural environment in the first half of the 1980s led to two decisive encounters. The first was with Giorgio Celli, an ethologist, writer, and university lecturer, who included Adriano Venturelli in the group of artists he founded and named “Transmanierismo,” promoting his collective participation, sponsored by the Selearte Publishing House, in national and international art exhibitions (Expo – Bari; Arte Fiera – Bologna; Icaf – London; Arco – Madrid).
